Under new Mandatory Greenhouse Gas Reporting legislation, companies listed on the London Stock Exchange will have to measure and report their carbon emissions in their Director’s Report.

Over 1,000 companies will be affected from September 2013 with the government deciding in 2015 whether to extend the requirement to all large companies. Importantly, the Government requires that companies clearly state their reporting methodology, cover a wide range of emissions (including overseas operations) and report on all six gases i.e. not just CO_2.
